Waiting....

I know they say that Patience is a Virtue. I am trying to remember that.

I applied to join to Peace Corps in August of 2010.  I received my nomination August 31, 2010 after interviewing in the Atlanta Regional Recruitment Office.

Since that Time..... 4 months..... I have gone through the medical, legal, and dental process required to receive clearance for Placement and the coveted Invitation!

My medical packet was received by the Peace Corps on November 16, 2010.

I have been legally cleared and as of December 21, 2010 I have been medically cleared.  There is a wait on my dental clearance until I have my 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed from my head (but they are saying that will not hinder my ability to be placed. They will just not send me my plane ticket until I have it taken care of, and my surgeon signs off on it).  So, as of the 21st when I received notice that my application was heading to the Placement Officer, I have been waiting on pins and needles to hear if I will receive an invitation.

In my effort to stay calm and keep my mind occupied, I have been searching the internet for people in the same boat as me. (I am not too sure if that is keeping me calm or not). I have read many blogs and chatted with a few people... and this is what I have concluded thus far....  Though my original nomination was for Secondary Education in Eastern Europe...leaving March of 2011.... there is no telling where and when I will go. (If that isn't and anxiety adventrue I don't know what is).  SO.... needless to say I am anxious to hear anything from them right now.  I find myself checking my status in the mytoolkit application online, in a crazed minor obsession.... and everytime there is no change in my status I repeat to myself those words that have become my motto through this whole process: "Patience is a Virtue."

My current Status:  Waiting...........................................

So it has been 6 days (though it has seemed like weeks) since my application headed over to a placement officer. Now I wait some more...  Hopefully I will hear something come the new year. That would be a fantastic way to start 2011.
